The June 30 budget deadline is approaching, and we need your help to urge legislators to support two necessary investments for home-based care.
Right now, Pennsylvania's Medicaid reimbursement rate for home-based care is $20.63/hour, lagging neighboring states by 25 to 75 percent. Rates have only increased by just $1.91/hour over the last decade while inflation rose more than 40%. Two state-commissioned studies call for a 23% rate increase to stabilize the workforce. Last year's budget funded only 6% of that need. When care goes unstaffed, families leave the workforce, hospital discharges are delayed, and individuals enter costlier nursing home settings. PA must increase Medicaid rates to preserve access to home-based care.
Pennsylvania legislators must also support a reimbursement rate increase for private duty nursing services. To compete for nurses and home health aides, we need a Medicaid reimbursement rate of $59.00 per hour for pediatric and adult shift nursing services, and a 10% increase for home health aide services.
Send a message to your legislators today urging them to support rate increases for Personal Assistance Services and Private Duty Nursing!
